Day 2

Scripture to Read: Daniel 12:5–8

In Revelation 12:6–17, God had John record what happens in the spiritual world in the second half of the tribulation. Satan will lose his access to Heaven. Currently, Satan enters heaven to accuse the brethren, as recorded in the Book of Job and in Revelation 12:10. Even Jesus referenced this in Luke 22:31, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat.” So, halfway through the tribulation, Satan’s access is removed. In Revelation 12:7–9, we read how Satan is cast down to the earth. He knows he’ll only have three and a half years to stop the coming of Christ’s kingdom. He knows that once the kingdom comes, he’ll be dethroned and put into the abyss. Then, at the end of the thousand years, he’ll be cast into the lake of fire forever (Revelation 20:10). Satan will seek to destroy the nation of Israel during the tribulation. Right now, the problem the Jewish people have as a nation is their power. That’s why in Daniel 12:7, we read that God has to “shatter the power of the holy people.” Israel is living according to Ezekiel 38:8 and Ezekiel 38:11. Israel will be living in security when the Antichrist comes to power. We see today how successful Israel has been in warding off attackers. They attribute their success to Mossad, the IDF, their weapons, or their intelligence, revealing their attitude of self-sufficiency and that God is never mentioned. Ezekiel 38:12 describes the wealth of Israel in the last days, and it’s exactly what is happening today.

Challenge & Application

What did God speak to your heart today about your need for Him and not becoming self-sufficient? How else has God challenged you today, and how will you live according to what He’s taught you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

In 1 Peter 5:5, we know “God humbles the proud and gives grace to the humble.” God does this in Daniel 12:5–7 as He reveals His future plans for the nation of Israel. We read in Daniel 12:5 how two others were standing on the two banks of the river. The river Daniel referenced was the Tigris, revealed in Daniel 10:4. In Daniel 12:7, a third i...

Day 3

God will use the tribulation period to convert the nation of Israel to Christ. In Daniel 12:7, it says, “as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people.” Note that God is “shattering the power of the holy people.” Only for the nation of Israel does God promise a national revival. In Romans 11:26, God’s Word says, “and so all I...

Day 4

God designed prophecy to become more understandable the closer we get to when the things predicted in the Book of Daniel will happen. In Daniel 12:9, God had the angel tell Daniel that he should seal the vision. God the Father left it to the work of the Holy Spirit in a distant generation to reveal the things that had been shown to Daniel. In...

Day 5

In Daniel 12:10, God gave an answer to the contrast between the righteous and the wicked, as it says, “Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.” The “many” is often used as a reference to the nation of Israel. We see this i...

Day 6

Many, through the tribulation, will become hardened toward God. Daniel 12:10 says, “the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand.” God also reveals this in Revelation 9:20–21, “The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the ido...

Day 7

We read in Daniel 12:13, “But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age.” This is Daniel’s future inheritance, how he will enter his rest and rise to enter into his portion in the millennial kingdom. Those words are so encouraging. We must make sure we are ...
