Day 4

Scripture to Read: Daniel 12:9

God designed prophecy to become more understandable the closer we get to when the things predicted in the Book of Daniel will happen. In Daniel 12:9, God had the angel tell Daniel that he should seal the vision. God the Father left it to the work of the Holy Spirit in a distant generation to reveal the things that had been shown to Daniel. Interestingly, 600 years later, the Apostle John was told by the angel in Revelation 22:10, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.” Daniel had been given a few pieces of God’s vision, but God used John in the Book of Revelation to fill in the gaps. For Daniel, the vision couldn’t be fully understood until these things were fulfilled. That is why the prophets in the Old Testament, concerning the things related to Christ, could not fully understand what God had led them to write. We read this in 1 Peter 1:10–11, “As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.” Even Isaiah received prophecies about Christ 700 years before they happened. In Isaiah 53, Isaiah wrote of the crucified Christ, but in Isaiah 9, he wrote of the glorified Christ ruling and reigning. Thankfully, we live in a time when God has given us the full revelation of Himself.

Challenge & Application

Since God has given us the full revelation of Himself and what He expects from us, how are you living according to His Word? What are some of the things God has shown you through His Word that have strengthened your faith in Him?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

In 1 Peter 5:5, we know “God humbles the proud and gives grace to the humble.” God does this in Daniel 12:5–7 as He reveals His future plans for the nation of Israel. We read in Daniel 12:5 how two others were standing on the two banks of the river. The river Daniel referenced was the Tigris, revealed in Daniel 10:4. In Daniel 12:7, a third i...

Day 2

In Revelation 12:6–17, God had John record what happens in the spiritual world in the second half of the tribulation. Satan will lose his access to Heaven. Currently, Satan enters heaven to accuse the brethren, as recorded in the Book of Job and in Revelation 12:10. Even Jesus referenced this in Luke 22:31, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has de...

Day 3

God will use the tribulation period to convert the nation of Israel to Christ. In Daniel 12:7, it says, “as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people.” Note that God is “shattering the power of the holy people.” Only for the nation of Israel does God promise a national revival. In Romans 11:26, God’s Word says, “and so all I...

Day 5

In Daniel 12:10, God gave an answer to the contrast between the righteous and the wicked, as it says, “Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.” The “many” is often used as a reference to the nation of Israel. We see this i...

Day 6

Many, through the tribulation, will become hardened toward God. Daniel 12:10 says, “the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand.” God also reveals this in Revelation 9:20–21, “The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the ido...

Day 7

We read in Daniel 12:13, “But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age.” This is Daniel’s future inheritance, how he will enter his rest and rise to enter into his portion in the millennial kingdom. Those words are so encouraging. We must make sure we are ...
